Jane has extensive experience in all aspects of commercial property. She has acted for both commercial landlords and tenants in advising and negotiating commercial leases for shops office and industrial units and the sale and purchase of freehold commercial property.

Jane also acts for developers and has extensive experience in the acquisition of land for development via conditional contracts and option agreements. She is experienced in all aspects of development such as overage provisions and clawback, planning obligation deeds (called Section 106 Agreements), the Community Infrastructure Levy and drainage and highway adoption agreements. Her experience means she is aware of the commercial pressures that many businesses face.

Jane has a particular niche specialism as she acts for Registered Providers of social housing on all aspects of land acquisitions for social housing development including nomination agreements, open market sales, shared ownership, shared equity and other low cost home ownership schemes such as shared ownership schemes in rural area.

Jane has worked as a solicitor both in the public and private sectors first as an in-house local authority lawyer and then in private practice firms.

Jennifer Humphreys is a solicitor dealing with general private client work including wills, trusts, tax, powers of attorney and Court of Protection applications. Jennifer previously worked for the Birmingham firm Martineau Johnson. She was educated at Woodbridge School and is also an accomplished musician, playing the viola with the Sinfonia of Birmingham and more locally, the Wolsey Orchestra. Jennifer also qualified as a notary public in April 2009 after completing a two-year course with the University of Cambridge.

Nicholas Marshall was formerly a partner in the commercial property department of major City practice Lawrence Graham. He has considerable experience of commercial property work involving institution and property company work, development schemes, landlord and tenant work, joint venture agreements, occupation leases and associated documentation. Nicholas has particular experience in acting for US corporations. March 2016 saw Nick appointed a trustee of the Poetry Trust. It is a national and international body supported by the Arts Council but is largely based in Aldeburgh.

James Robbins joined Marshall Hatchick on 2nd April 2007 as a Partner and is based at our Aldeburgh office. He started his legal career in 1986 with Westhorp Ward & Catchpole, that firm subsequently merging with Birketts where he remained until 1999. He then joined Mears Hobbs and Durrant in Lowestoft as a partner. James deals primarily in commercial and residential property specialising in Housing Association work.
